Preparing New Garden Spot - Updated

The old garden spot is surrounded with 60 foot tall spruce trees, which obstructs most of the light getting to the garden.  Also the acidity of the needles stops a lot from growing.
We decided to move the garden to an open sport with fertile dirt.  First step was to remove old grass layer.  using the cutting edge on the bucket made quick work of this.

Next I brought the field cultivator through it, however it wouldn't go deep enough.
I then decided to rip it up with the forks on my mini loader.  This worked surprisingly well.  I also ran the field cultivator over it again after.

Finally I rototilled it to break up the clumps, nice soft dirt now.  It will do well for this year.  Next year I will spread some manure and till it in.
